In an offseason filled with rumors and old white guys chasing black college kids around campus, we finally have actual recruiting news to copy and paste. Khari Price, a 5’11” PG from Louisiana, verbally committed to Dayton today, filling the hole left after Jevon Thomas and Kid Yuma had a very public, very passive-aggressive breakup.
Not much is known about Khari Price. He has no rating on Scout or Rivals, and listed Western Kentucky, South Florida and Mississippi State as his other interested schools. He was second team All-State as a senior, averaging 18 points and nearly 6 assists. In times like these, we can only turn to people who make a living talking to 17 year olds, and Brian Snow of Scout.com gives us the scoop:
Dipping down into the state of Louisiana, the Flyers secured a verbal commitment from Khari Price. Price visited the Flyers over the weekend, and ultimately committed to the school on Tuesday.
“I committed to Dayton,” said Price. “It was the support of the town, from the students to the general population that was big. Also the team is great who are great guys, and I think I can help them get over the top to win a championship.”
With minutes available in the backcourt, Price feels he can make an immediate impact as a freshman.
“I think I can definitely come in and play a big role,” said Price. “I can give Kevin Dillard a rest and play off the ball as a two guard. I just want to impact the game on both ends of the floor.”
Like every single recruit ever, Price is known as an electric scorer with above average court vision. I just made that up. I have no idea what he’s known for, no one does. But if he can back up Kevin Dillard for 8-10 minutes a night and not be terrible as a freshman, well, that would be ok. Anything more out of him is a bonus.
