I’m going to start calling this team the Road Dogs if they keep winning away from the Arena like this (the Road Hogs would be a close second). The Flyers are now 2-2 on the road in conference play, a miraculous step towards mediocrity for this program.
Dayton was pretty much in total control from the jump and enjoyed its biggest lead of the game, 61-34, with around thirteen minutes left in the game. Jordan Sibert was on fire, scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Vee Sanford was dropping floaters all over the place, ending the night with 16 points and three steals. Matt Kavanaugh even got in on the act, dropping a season-high 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Flip-side, Dyshawn Pierre only got off four shots and UD was never threatened. That’s how turrible Mason is.
This wasn’t so much a UD victory as it was a George Mason loss. The Patriots are just dreadful. Mason is now 0-8 in conference, and looking at their league slate it’s hard to see a victory on the horizon. GMU’s most likely victory comes on the final day of the regular season, a home tilt against Duquesne. Circle that one on your calendars.
The Flyers head into another perpetual dungeon of doom this weekend, visiting Saint Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. The battle for lone possession of eighth place in the Atlantic Ten will commence.
