PodcastPodcast: Requiem

The end of season recap is finally here with another foursome to close out what ended an extremely up-and-down season. The boys go right into a breakdown of the Flyers first-round loss to Wichita State. Kevin quickly recounts his trip to Indy and discusses what is still bothering him from the game’s second-half — that Sam Miller, John Crosby and Ryan Mikesell were on the court at the same time.

Would a healthy Josh Cunningham have made a difference against the Shockers? Who knows?  Kevin brings up Charles Cooke’s supposed slide over the tail end of the season. The four gentlemen go high-level: how will this class be remembered? There’s some tasty hot-takes in there.

Donnie raises the issue — what will this program’s immediate future look like? What about Archie, is he going to be in the mix at Indiana? The general consensus is expect the worst, hope for the best. Sully believes next year may be the most important year in Archie’s young career. A brief discussion of the great unknown, Matej Svoboda, commences. Then it’s time for Kevin to tell his Indianapolis tale, which quickly shifts to Hooters talk.

Bracket talk is next!! Donoher somehow falls a few seconds behind the discussion, so things go off the rails. Everyone gives their new champion now that the Sweet Sixteen is upon us. Kev and Sully break down the pregame festivities that the UD Alumni Association put on. Donny has some interesting thoughts on what’s up with Morgan Miller. And finally, one last Hot or Not to wrap up the season.

There is a quiet conspiracy brewing to freeze out the MidMajor schools. If UD doesnt’ get off the sleeping pills and realign themselves in the Big East (or similar conference) very soon……..its gonna be back to the days of Jim OBrien yelling at the Sweater Townies for leaving games too early to beat traffic

In the future please refer to the coach you mentioned as he whose name shall not be spoken. Thanks

I drove by the old hickory (the one with the logo on this site, not on brown ), and was wondering if it was any good. Couldn’t quite tell if this site is making fun of it because it is a shit hole, or if it is an old school hidden gem

Please someone explain to me why our Presidents, Athletic Administration, Distinguished Alumni and hundreds of workers at KU CANNOT figure out a way to get us in the Big East?? We got pushed out by Creighton last time around for crissakes??…….who pushes us out this time??…. Duquesne??…..Wright St??

Who we gonna beat in the Big East???? Who who who, we’d be like DePaul , a hopeless bottom feeder. Better to stay with our own kind in the A10, one level down.

NEWS FLASH…. I just checked into Dane Fife’s wife, Blair. Name checks out on par with Morgan. She would be an 8 to Morgan’s 9 so we are in the ballpark. And I am sure being in Dayton will increase her likelihood of regular wine consumption by 4:00 p.m. every day so we may be able to keep the Twitter voice entertainment going as well. So, not all may be lost….

Not sure if its possible but if UD doesn’t give an all effort to get Tom Crean, I’m at a total loss for words.

Not sure about anyone else…..but the comments of John Miller in Archdeacon’s column sounded like Levar Ball?
How dare does little podunct university of Dayton compare and able to recruit against the likes of MICHIGAN STATE and INDIANA??………that’s how he came off to my ears. Addios…….good luck and enjoy trying to top Gene Hackman and Bob Knight. Lets now quit worrying about the Hoosiers new coach and start worrying about ours!! (See Crean, Grant, Kelsey etc)

All time Hall of Fame UD Pride shithouse rat comment of the millennium from one Chris Rieman, – “I remember Brian Gregory’s presser when hired for GT. He looked like his tie was strangling him to death and he wanted out of that room as quickly as possible. One of the most painful things I ever watched. You could see the only thing on his mind was Dayton. Youngest daughter was born in Dayton. Baptized right there in the UD chapel. The city meant a lot to him.

The nice thing about Dayton is you can be the King of Dayton in terms of basketball coach and own the key to the city, but people are nice enough to more or less leave you alone. Standing in the checkout line at Arbys, you might get a “hey Arch, go Flyers!” but that was it. I think Archie very much appreciated his relative privacy here — but more importantly the willingness of the fan base to allow him to have that privacy. He wasnt a supernatural God. He was just Archie the ball coach.

In Bloomington it will never be that way and that life is now over. Not a better or worse life, but a different life. He is going to have to sign 10 t-shirt backs, hold 3 babies, and take 5 selfies every time he pumps gas in that town..”

You know you are a mid-major when you see a statement referring to your coach standing in line at Arby’s.

Need to get out of the f-ing A-10. We’re stuck in it for another decade at least. Xavier and Marquette will keep us out of the Big East. Xavier doesn’t want us in their recruiting territory or market. There is absolutely no reason why we can’t be in that league. We check every box. It would elevate the program significantly. St. John’s and DePaul haven’t done shit in years. Creighton got in because their univ. president knew the person in admin at Marquette? HAVE. TO. GET. OUT. OF. THE. A-10.

Also the UD Priders are stuck in the past as usual. Not pissed at Archie in the least. IU might not be the job it once was but it’s an obvious upgrade $$$. Thought he was waiting for Matta to leave though.

Not looking forward to Mikesell and Sam Miller getting major minutes but it is what it is. I’m thinking McKinley Wright switches to Minnesota. Anthony Grant was pretty bad at Bama wasn’t he? Similar to Wade leaving VCU for LSU, a football school.
