Hey, Gang! The 2018-2019 is in full-swing, and while we are all familiar with the raucous confines of The Sweater Centre; many Flyers Fanatics will cheer on UD on the road. Whether you plan on checking out the mid-major action in Olean, Philadelphia or St. Louis, we’ve got you covered! The 2018-18 Blackburn Review Travel Companion is your guide to the best and worst destinations for this year’s road slate.
First things first, I would like to apologize for not submitting a Road Trippin’ for the Fly Boys’ trip to Atlantis. Thankfully, the crew at ESPN was happy to present a three-day infomercial frequently interrupted by basketball action. If you are into water slides and interspecies aqua-sex, try to locate some bootleg recordings of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis, because they covered everything.
After Tuesday’s PINK SOCKING of Detroit Mercy, the Flyers of UD will head down to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Tigers of Auburn University. A true Southern college town with a smidgen of local history, Auburn has a bit of something for everyone.
Originally inhabited by the Creek Indians, Auburn was liberated by President Andrew Jackson. It began as a squatter’s colony, as hillbillies would set up camp on land still owned by the Creek, but due to some tricky language in the Treaty of Cussetta, the squatters could obtain ownership of the land.
Ample number of hot coeds can be found at College and Magnolia, the site of Toomer’s Corner. Named for the iconic drugstore located within, you can sample Auburn’s number one food staple, Toomer’s lemonade. Many a hot/humid day has been made bearable with a glass of Toomer’s. The grandparents of the current Auburn players likely wouldn’t have been allowed to set foot in this famous establishment, but today, everyone is welcome. Sexual dynamos like Beret Man can cool off with a delicious lemonade and ogle young ladies; Toomer’s is a must visit.
You, dear reader, may recall that the iconic oak trees at this hallowed intersection were poisoned by a disgruntled Bama fan, but do you know that the trees that replaced them were subsequently set on fire while covered in toilet paper? When “Rolling Toomer’s” goes wrong, it goes sideways as fuck.
Besides the University itself, there isn’t much to do, but they do have a Robert Trent Jones course. Ever the duffer, UD Santa can hit the links before the evening’s tilt at Auburn Arena.
