The Flyers embarrassed B-Rob. B-ROB!

I think we all knew the run would come to an end sooner rather than later, and that it would more than likely come on the road. However, I don’t think any of us expected the thorough undressing that Davidson put on the Flyers this evening. Honestly, I knew things were going to get bad when Davidson rolled a white-out onto the court before the first television timeout. That’s Bob McKillop telling you to tighten your pants, it’s going to be a long night.

The Wildcats basically Dayton’d Dayton. They were red-hot from behind the arc, connecting on 52% of their three-point attempts and frustrated UD into sixteen turnovers. The Flyers? Well, they could only muster 27% from deep — UD won’t win many league games on the road shooting at that rate. Although the final margin was seventeen points, the deficit could have been larger without the play of Jordan Sibert and Kendall Pollard. The two combined for 46 of UD’s 60 points, as the rest of the starting lineup decided to take the night off.

Bobby Wehrli had as many points as Dyshawn Pierre and took as many shots as Durrell Davis (Kyle Davis didn’t even get a shot off in his twenty-nine minutes of play), that’s a recipe for disaster regardless of the opponent. Pierre, in particular, had an absolute bed shitter against the Wildcats, shooting 2-of-10 from the field, committing five turnovers and was absolutely back-doored into oblivion on defense. He looked lost and disinterested, completely out of the flow of the game.

The big takeaway is this — UD is now 15-3 (5-1), second place in the Atlantic Ten (VCU is now by its lonesome in first). Dayton ran into a buzzsaw tonight, something that is going to happen over a thirty game season, it’s part of the deal for everyone not named Kentucky. I don’t want to hear any of you crying like a fucking woman who just lost her only son in a threshing accident. This season has already provided us with heavy doses of hilarity, joy and laughter. So much laughter. We get back on the horse this weekend, back in the Sweater Centre, against a “meh” Richmond squad. I smell victory. And smiles.
