There’s not much to say about today’s game against Fordham other than it was a must-win and UD delivered. The Flyers coasted to a commanding lead 50-31 lead at halftime and never looked back. Dayton, as it their wont, took the foot off the gas a bit and allowed the Rams to crawl back into the game, the lead shrunk to five with just ten minutes left in the contest. However, UD reasserted itself, put together a little run and racked up a 87-74 victory over Tom Pecora’s club.

Vee Sanford had his best performance in a UD uniform — going  a perfect 9-of-9 from the field, including three three-pointers. The senior finished with a game-high 23 points on the afternoon. Devin Oliver, steady as always, racked up another double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against the Rams. The Flyers UD shot a season-best 59% from the field and hit 9-of-19 (47%) from beyond the arc. The victory pushed UD’s record to 23-9 on the season, a game against the St. Joe’s Hawks is slated to tip-off tomorrow at 2:30 PM.

Now, depending on your point-of-view, the Flyers are either in the tournament or a mere victory over the Hawks away from solidifying their place. I happen to think that the Flyers need a win tomorrow to seal the deal, and I still don’t think the selection committee will have the temerity to take six teams from the Atlantic Ten. The consensus seems to be that SMU, Iowa and Pittsburgh are mortal locks, so I have no clue what the criteria is anymore. Bottom line, I don’t trust anyone to do the right thing when it comes to a program like UD. This is me speaking truth to power, everybody. Hope you enjoyed it.

Whatevs, let’s get nasty, ya’ll!
