A UD ad just ran during the first commercial break during the GT-GM game. Clearly UD weren't confident about yesterday's game if they were buying airtime for this time slot...
London Warren was terrible today...7 turnovers and walking the ball up the court under a minute to play. There was no sense of urgency with him. He did make two huge free throws, I'll give him that, but as a senior he need to play a lot better. Lowery needs to get healthy ASAP.
I can't wait for Lowery to come back from being academically ineligib---i mean from his injury, either. We win on Sunday and everything is fine, we had to have Tech. No one expected us to beat Nova, even without Redding and Yarou, so I'll take a six-point loss. Hell, it could have been a twenty point blowout if things stagnated after the ten minute mark.
@John: def. He was boarding like crazy today, good to see.
Intemperate thoughts: 1. Fab's defensive ability is inversely related to Kurt's playing time. 2. No white pussy for MJ or Flight until they start playing like men. 3. After watching CJ for three games I just sent in my check for next season's tickets. 4. I know it was a good comeback, and a "good loss"...but i'm still going out and getting smashed...I pray there's a Nova girl at the bar I can dirty sanchez later.
@ Blackburn - Is it actually possible Luke worked on defense, rebounding and getting stronger this offseason? I honestly couldn't believe my eyes, the fucking kid stood up defenders on VILLANOVA, boarded and even swatted the shit out of one, ran the court and hit a three.
I was shocked, he has been huge this season ... if this is the real Luke (10 pts, 2 rebs in 8 min) this season could be a lot of fun.
Also, was anyone genuinly pissed at Marcus today? He played NO FUCKING DEFENSE, I can handle missed shots, but there is no excuse to not play defense ... all it is is hustle. He was getting blown by all day for dishes and layups, I had never seen that before. As a senior that is ridiculous, that game is UD's if MJ just plays his normal defense.
Pardon me, but I just sat through New Moon and I need to find me identity again by talking about sports, so this might be long winded.
All in all we played 30 minutes of basketball toe to toe with a serious top 10 team. The other 10 minutes is what separates us from them. Getting Lowery back will close the gap a bit, but still, Nova is better. Kudos to them.
On our side, even in a loss its good to see we didn't fold when things weren't going well. Last year we folded against Creighton, Charlotte, and UMass. Today we stormed back against Nova and were one stop from potentially tying the game at a couple points. Maybe that shows maturation, I don't know. At the very least it's better to go down swinging.
Can't add anything new on Marcus. Slow start, should pick it up before long. I'm sure it's hurting him a lot more than its hurting me.
Loved the noticeable jump in effort and intensity with about 10 minutes left. Perry, who had been abused, suddenly woke up on offense and defense. CJ really stepped up, too. Can't say enough about Luke. I've had his back for the most part all along, and it may be an early season mirage, but his all around game has really improved. If his shooting stays solid and his defense and rebounding are in fact better, he's a weapon.
Losing sucks, but not all losses are created equal, IMO. I think even in defeat we proved we belong in the 20-25 range right now, and at the same time they have a good amount of negative things on film that they will see and hopefully improve. Get a win on Sunday and this will have been a successful journey to PR.
Big game Sunday. Who knows, if we do a few too many bad things along the way we could be playing a fellow bubble team.
Yeah, what a sad day it is that we are complimenting a player after a 16 and 9 performance, and he has been one of the only players to show up in Puerto Rico

Luke was the best player on the floor.
I think we can officially get off his back. He fucking boarded like a man tonight.
I can't remember him getting beat off the dribble once this tournament either.

@Shroyer - Dirty Sanchez's are the best.
Chris Wright's not going pro anytime soon, waaay too many things to work on.

It's a sad day when everyone's slobbering on Luke Fab after a loss.
