Jesse James Berry Will Ride Again, Some Alums are Employed

Former Flyer super-recruit Jesse Berry has finally qualified academically and will suit up for Ball State this fall.

Berry received scholarship papers to fill out on Wednesday and he signed and faxed those papers back to Ball State that same day.

“I’m excited to get on campus,” said Berry, a 6-foot-1 Lafayette Jefferson High School graduate. “I’m just going to try my best and feel everything out.”

Berry wound up at Ball State through unusual circumstances.

He committed to Dayton last summer and signed his National Letter of Intent in November. But with Berry yet to qualify academically and in trouble with the law for a second time, the Flyers granted him a release from his scholarship commitment in April. He was initially arrested on a theft charge and then assault with bodily harm, though there were no charges brought against him for the latter.

Although Berry certainly would have been entertaining on and off the court, I think this is the best situation for all parties involved. Sister Schmeling would have loved you, Jesse. Now that you are in college you no longer have to worry about academics, just basketball, Twitter and white girls from here on out. God bless ya.

In other news, former Flyer Luke Hendrick, Saginaw's Son, has accepted a role with the Western Michigan coaching staff:

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan men's basketball head coach Steve Hawkins has announced the hiring of former Dayton player Luke Hendrick as director of basketball operations.

Hendrick will serve as WMU's video coordinator and is responsible for WMU's video exchange with opposing teams in addition to assisting with all of the day-to-day operations of the program. His efforts will focus on aiding with practice sessions, supervising the team's corps of managers and handling all team travel arrangements. His responsibilities also include the planning and coordination of the Western Michigan summer basketball camps.

Hey, it's a paying gig, right? And Kalamazoo can't be that bad of a place to be during the winter months, can it? On the negative side, how many meth-addiction stories start with the phrase, "well, I just moved to Kalamazoo..."

Lastly, Darnell Hoskins, UD's one year wonder, has taken over the head coaching reigns at Thurgood Marshall:

SPRINGFIELD -- Darnell Hoskings will resign as Springfield High School boys basketball coach to take the same position at Thurgood Marshall.

Hoskins guided the Wildcats to a 14-9 record in his first year as a head coach. He finished 4-6 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division before losing to Northmont in a Division I sectional final.

Two things about Hoskins. One, he was the best penetrator I have seen in a Flyer uniform, he was nearly impossible to stay in front of. Two, I once had the opportunity to guard him at the PAC and came away with horrendous scratches up and down my arms. I looked, and felt, like I had just escaped from an attempted sexual assault. Dude had talons at the end of his fingertips. We are talking pimp fingernails, ya'll.

Anyway, good luck to both Luke and Darnell. They'll need it.

@ john---what are you, 14 years old?
Most children would know better.
Do you get a kick out of seeing these words?

You are obsessed with male genitalia.
Its no wonder you're divorced, single, dateless and living alone.

Dude--you are strange.
And you add nothing to this site--in fact you hurt this site.

Wow, tman grows some balls and attempts to defend his manhood. Impressive. You know, generally the only people who would point out that someone else has a ball obsession are obsessed with balls themselves. Scientific knowledge, man.

PS - tman rims ass.

@Blackie, would you happen to know if this Hoskins guy was as good of a penetrator off the court as he was on the court? I figure you would probably have some first-hand experience with that - you know, for the sake of reporting.

TMAN RIMS ASS.

@DiSab: Donoher swears that Hoskins had a kid at like 16. Can't verify that, typical Donoher hyperbole.

Rollo on UD Pride has made himself as big of a douchenozzle as Swampy in the "Trice to Michigan State" thread.

Doing the university proud...

After some research that made me want to kill myself, I found out that Darnell has a kid in 7th grade. So I was not close.

Wow, Donnie's working hard to keep his job here.

@Donoher: Care to take a crack at all the Flyers that have had a child while playing for UD?

@Blackburn and Donoher: I will start the bidding with Tony Stanley, Brooks Hall and Brian Roberts.

I know someone on the current roster has a kid, but I'm not sure who, I think it's either Parker or Dilliard.

UD Pride is funny because all old people are racist.

You'd think London would've had a kid or 8 by now (unless he does and I don't know about it).
