The Doog brings us some info on Ryan Taylor, a possible addition to the Flyer fold:
Ryan Taylor, a 6-foot-6 prep school basketball star, is planning to make an official visit to Dayton just weeks after making an unofficial visit to UD.
Asked if that means he’s getting serious about the Flyers, Taylor said: “Yes, I am.”
He averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds for Hargrave Military Academy this season. He once was committed to Louisville, but the Cardinals’ interest waned when his academics became an issue.
He averaged 27.6 points, 14.2 rebounds and 4.2 blocks as a senior at Louisville Western High School. He’s actually from Indianapolis, though, but moved to Louisville to play for his uncle.
Taylor has several scholarship offers from BCS schools, including Cincinnati, Arkansas and Seton Hall.
But he’s clicked with UD coach Archie Miller.
“He’s a great coach,” Taylor said. “He actually recruited me when he was at Ohio State. He just said my game has progressed since then. I like that. He’s going to help the players he gets to reach their full potential.
Give Archie this much, it’s clear he doesn’t let little things like academic issues get in the way of recruiting potential players.
That being said, Taylor has yet to achieve a qualifying ACT score (which indicates that the odds are stacked against him).
