A glorified pickup game broke out at UD Arena this afternoon, with your Dayton Flyers pulling out a effortless victory over the visiting Rams of Fordham, 101-77. Dayton surpassed the century mark for the first time since December, 1999, when the Flyers put a country whopping on Coastal Carolina. Fordham should be ashamed of themselves, absolutely embarrassed. The game was never in doubt and the crowd really didn’t have the opportunity to get LOWD.
UD’s starters accounted for 98 of the squad’s 101 points — DURRELL Davis connected on a three with about a minute left to rack up some points for the bench. Jordan Sibert was feeling it early and often, putting up a career-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting. The Flyers shot 41% from three and got to the line 34 times, converting 82% of their attempts from the stripe.
Like most games against Fordham, there isn’t much of an epilogue to speak of. The Rams have now lost 16 Atlantic Ten games in a row, a program that ceases to matter. The Flyers get a nice little respite, not having to lace ’em up again until Friday night (?) against George Washington. UD will stay on the road, traveling to Saint Louis to take on the Billikens the following Tuesday. Two key games for the Flyers coming down the pike, buckle the fuck up.
Lastly, major upset from UD’s Womens Soccer Team’s banquet picture. Only four girls come off looking good. A sad day indeed.
