Podcast: Don’t Die Dave Matthews

So much to talk about and not enough listeners to care. The dynamic duo, Mr. Tom and Mr. Don, quickly wrap up last weeks’ Flyer action — paying particular care to the near implosion in Olean. The gentle giants look forward to this week’s home-stand and basically shit all over the rest of the league in the process. Blackburn’s obsession with hating the craft beer crowd is finally exposed and some disturbing revelations are made as the boyz discuss the recent deaths of several prominent musical geniuses. Which musical superstar death would really knock America on her ass? The men, proud in their convictions, have the definitive list. The podcast comes to a close with a quick discussion regarding Amy Schumer’s thievery and what the future of comedy looks like. It’s bleak, people. In every sense of the word.

I’m pretty sure the Red Scare and the SLU student sections started a twitter fight last year, and then decided they would create the Arch Baron Cup. Here’s a link to the Red Scare with the cup .

This whole craft beer dispute is somewhat amusing, except that you keep talking about it. Maybe it has something to do with Blackburn’s interaction with craft beer as a “New York value”. In the Midwest, I tend the appeal is more due to locally-made sentiments. So in Chicago, I’ll have a 312 or Green Line. If I’m visiting Cleveland, pour me a Burning River or Edmund Fitzgerald. Next time you visit Dayton, you should check out the Warped Wing Brewery. It’s less about craft beer snobbery than I think it is an overdue economic recovery from Prohibition and rebuilding of a local pub culture. Also, whereas the NY Values bit is exhaustin, it’s quite reasonable that most Flyers will feel different than Blackburn on this topic. Afterall, the Midwest was a brewer’s paradise before Prohibition, in no small part due to the “German Triangle” made up of Cinninnati, Milwaukee and St. Louis.
