I like the guy’s complaint about Archie being an “uninspiring” hire. These are the same people who wanted an “Indiana Guy” and piss and moan about the coach needing to recruit in-state kids. Do these rubes think that an all-Indiana team is going to do anything?

They honestly thought Donovan or Stevens would take the job. If not them they always had Smart as a backup.

This is like Marty McFly being called CHICKEN in the movie Back to The Future 2………Hearing constantly:
“YOU CAN MAKE A FINAL FOUR AT INDIANA” ……”THERE ARE GREATER EXPECTATIONS AT INDIANA THAN AT DAYTON”……”YOU CAN RECRUIT BETTER PLAYERS AT INDIANA THAN AT DAYTON”……..even john miller commenting that “michigan st gets better recruits than Dayton can’t get”……..No wonder Bob Knight said what he said about that place??

Never hire someone you can’t fire. Anthony Grant is the spotted owl of Dayton basketball. You get him and it’s over folks.

2 of my favorite posts on UDPride when people were speculating who would take the IU job. I can’t make this shit up. Apparently Nike didn’t want to keep him “in the family” and IU’s Adidas contract had no affect on job perception.
“I’ve often wondered how much the Nike cabal, Adidas Cabal and now Under Armor Cabal affect coaching moves. How much pull does Nike have in Archie’s (or other coaching) decisions? How do those contracts and influences work? I doubt its spoken about in the open, but I’m sure Nike would prefer to keep Sean and Archie in the “family” ”
“There’s an Adidas connection with Indiana and Baylor. Drew also spent a lot of his life in the Hoosier state. Besides the NCAA issues with the school, you gotta think he’s probably maxed out what anyone can do with Baylor. I think the Adidas affiliation is gonna make Indiana less attractive on the open market”

I believe Bob Knight’s explosion on IU three weeks ago led to Archie taking the job at IU. Poor Steve “Stockholm’s Syndrome” Alford feared the wrath of the General, so he backed away from showing interest in the IU job to remain in his good graces.
