Podcast Off-Season #6: Stories from the 80s with Kevin Conrad

Sully welcomes on Kevin Conrad to talk about Flyers basketball back in the day

The off-season series is back, brought to you exclusively by Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken. This time around, Sully opens with a long monologue before bringing on Dayton Flyers Hall of Famer, Kevin Conrad, who played for the old U of D from 1979 to 1983.

In the first 20 minutes, Sully covers all things relevant to fans of the program right now, including a recruiting update, a roster update and the latest from the boys who will be competing in the TBT after the 4th of July. Sully asks the listeners why you needed to hear an apology from Jalen Robinson, and highlights how basketball players are always rightfully held to a different standard than the rest of the UD student body.

After the opening monologue Sully welcomes on Kevin Conrad to talk about basketball “back in the day”. Kevin shares his experiences on campus in the early 80s, what could’ve been with the 1982 team, and adds a few stories about the legend Don Donoher himself.

For all younger fans, there’s plenty of history lessons baked into the episode, if you’re into that sort of thing. Sully and Kevin close the interview by offering our heartfelt message to one of our favorite. LOWDmoms, Amanda (@pghsteelersgrl), who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and we please ask you to keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers as well.

Wear red, stay LOWD, enjoy the show on Soundcloud, Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
