A comeback victory by West Virginia means the Flyers avoid Juwan Staten and will instead face Boston College in tomorrow’s third-place game. The matchup with the Eagles is a mere business trip. There isn’t much at stake, a win or loss won’t have much impact on the rest of the season (but let’s get that dub anyway).
The hope is that Jordan Sibert buries a few threes, Jalen Robinson (remember him?) does something, anything, and Kendall Pollard continues his emergence as Dayton’s energy guy. Darrell Davis has seemed tentative in Puerto Rico, I would like to see him attack with the ball in his hand tomorrow.
Lastly, Archie promised us more Bobby Wehrli this year, even going as far to say the walkon might play in every game this season. So far, Archie has left us wanting. My hope, my dream, is that UD can get up by enough of a comfortable margin that Wehrli gets some floor time.

After four underwhelming years led by Steve Donahue, the Boston College brass finally cut the cord. The Eagles offered the position to Tommy Amaker, St. Bonnie’s Mark Schmidt, Quinnipiac’s Tom Moore and Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins. They bascially offered the job to anyone that had ever been to Nantucket and owned mesh shorts.
Eventually Jim Christian, Ohio’s coach at the time, accepted the job and everyone went back to forgetting Boston College basketball even existed.
The oddest aspect of this whole process were the comments of BC’s AD Brad Bates after hiring Christian. Bates stated that although Christian wasn’t a “splashy hire,” he was the right fit for BC given the circumstances and not likely to jump for other job opportunities down the road.
Which is essentially a declaration that you just hired a guy that you realize fans and alums won’t be impressed with, but don’t worry, he won’t do well enough to garner interest from other schools.
I’m sure Christian was ecstatic over that vote of confidence.
[spacer height=”15″] [title type=”fancy-h3″ color=””]Overview[/title]Boston College comes into the game with a 2-2 record. The Eagles beat New Mexico in their opening round game and have lost to West Virginia and fellow A10’r Massachusetts.
Christian lost two key contributors from last season, as forward Ryan Anderson packed his bags for Arizona and guard Joe Rahon transferred to Saint Mary’s. Their departure ended any hope of the Eagles putting together an impressive season. Still, BC returns three starters from last season and a handful of experienced vets.
BC plays a controlled, steady pace on offense and has the type of length to give its opposition problems on the defensive side of the court. The Eagles aren’t very threatening from the perimeter. Boston College has been turnover prone in the early going, averaging a staggering 16.5 turnovers per game thus far.

UD was a major player for Hanlan when he was coming out of high school. The Canadian has developed into one of the nation’s premier point-guards.

Kenny claims that UD has a .01% of an unbeaten record. Maybe Dayton has a chance of winning that UConn game on appeal?
